Best Present Ever

One of her gifts came in this box, so we decided to give her the box early. We're so nice, aren't we? She isn't getting the gift until her birthday (really good sale combined with unusable until she's older). She seemed quite pleased with it.

She doesn't seem quite so pleased with sharing.

Teeth

Look, you can see the teeth now!

Lillian got an ear infection last week and has been a cranky little girl at night. She's on antibiotics and ear drops and is smiles and giggles mostly now. She will even take a two hour nap some days. Its so nice.

I've been wrapping presents. I have almost half of them done. It takes so long since I have Lillian. Its all exciting, though.

I choose you!

I'm doing a secret santa thing with one of the forum groups that I'm a part of. This was one of the gifts for the group. But Sean's cats managed to get little dots of something on it. Gross. So, I had to wash it, and giving someone an already washed, tagless thing bothers me. So... here Lillian is wearing it.

Maybe Lillian got stuff on it so she could wear it and make it hers. I wouldn't put it past her, the little brat.

Feet

Lillian has decided that she -loves- her feet. They are almost better than toys. It is so cute, but it does complicate diaper changes.

Her shirt says: 'Does this diaper make my butt look big?' Its very cute. And the answer is, yes, sweetie, it does. But you can't stop wearing it until you and the toilet become buddies. Thanks, Taryn!

First Teeth

Not only was Lillian early at getting teeth. She also got two at the same time. I'll try to get some pictures of her showing them off. No more gummy smiles here!

Rice Cereal

Baby, in her natural habitat: a blue bumbo. Little does she know that her caretakers are going to try to feed her nasty tasting goo. She smiles.

Goo has been inserted into the oral cavity. Goo was rejected.

Baby has found the source of the goo. She pulls it closer for further inspection. She starts gnawing on the dish.

Baby tries to purge the foul tasting gruel from her system.

Here she is trying to trick her caretakers into thinking that she is actually feeding herself, so she does not have to ingest more cereal.

_______________________________________________________________

All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. She seemed to enjoy it, even if she didn't know how to swallow it. She loved chewing on the spoon, so we would dip it in the rice cereal and let her chew. It seemed to be the best way for her to 'eat.' She gagged herself a couple times, but by the end I think she figured out why that kept happening. She's a smart little girl.

Purple

Isn't she adorable? I love that outfit.

So, I found this website. I wish I had created it. Its an 'auction' website. Each bid costs a dollar and raises the price of the item by 15 cents and increases the time of the auction. I've kept a page open for three hours. The price has increased by roughly 200 dollars. That means, in the past three hours, they have raised around 1,333 dollars, over the price of the tv, completely on bids. And the auction will continue until people stop bidding, or December 8th, which ever comes first. And since people can set up an automated system to continue bidding when they leave, I really doubt the bidding will stop anytime soon.

Lillian has started 'reading' books. We'll sit there and look at the book and she'll try to turn the pages. She does succeed sometimes. Especially with the plastic books, since they're easy to grab. I have such a smart baby!

Baby Propaganda

This is what I plan on having her wear on Super Tuesday. Apparently this outfit makes her look masculine.

I've been a big mass of sickness this past week. I got a cold last Sunday and couldn't talk for a couple days. I was slowly getting better until Friday, when I got an ear infection. I am barely at work now. Everyone sounds like they're off in the distance. Lillian is doing great. She had a couple of sniffles one night, but hasn't really let that bother her. Sean was awesome, too. I can't wait to get over all of this.

Strawberry

We tried on Lillian's costume today. It was rather cute. I wanted her to be a snail, but Sean thought it was too demeaning. So, she's a strawberry baby. There really aren't many choices for this age. Pea pod, or cob of corn or an elephant where the mask wouldn't stay on, were her main choices. When she gets bigger, hopefully, I'll have enough time to sew and can make her something cute.

I thought this was adorable and worthy of its own post. My little pissed off, sleepy baby.

Yummy Bunny

We have a new friend: Yummy Bunny. She gets this name because whenever Lillian grabs her, she tries to eat her. This happens with most of her toys. Its constant, however, with Yummy Bunny.

Three Months

She was following the bunny intently, until bunny ended up on her head. It was really cute to watch. She learned rather quickly that if she looked down, soon she would see bunny again.

the What to Expect the First Year book. And while it generally sucks, I enjoy reading the what your baby can do sections. This is mostly because I have a talented baby.

Baby should be able to:
~Lift head 45 degrees when on stomach- yes, she loves tummy time

Will probably be able to:
~Laugh out loud- she laughs, but it very much is her hearing us laugh and attempting to mimic it. Its adorable
~Lift head 90 degrees- yes
~Squeal- if making different pitches of noises counts, then yes. She loves singing
~Bring both hands together- yes, and hold things between them sometimes, too
~Smile spontaneously- definitely
~Follow an object held about 6 inches above baby's face for 180 degrees- this was last month

May possibly be able to:
~Hold head steady when upright-yes, until she gets tired.
~Raise chest when on stomach- not really. You can position her arms under her in such a way that it is possible, but that would be considered cheating.
~Roll over, front to back- yes and no. If you put her in the correct position, she can. But even then its hit and miss.
~Grasp a rattle- yes and she shakes it. I'm not so sure if she realizes that her shaking the rattle is what is making the noise, though.
~Pay attention to an object as small as a raisin- Haven't tested this.

May even be able to:
~Bear some weight on legs if held- she loves doing this. If she's not too tired, she'll laugh and laugh.
~Reach for an object- If its close enough she'll hit it or mess with it, but she's not too keen on straining for an object.
~Keep head level with body when pulled to sitting- this has happened before.
~Turn in the direction of a voice- sometimes, if she cares.
~Say vowel-consonant combinations, like "ah-goo"- I've heard that word before. This has become more rare since she has figured out that she can control the pitch of her voice.
~Razz- she can make a gurgly or bubbly noise. Last week was the razzy noises, this week, she seems to be focusing on making smacking noises.

Eating Ida

Lillian has learned how to push things toward and sometimes into her mouth. Ida the inchworm is currently one of her favourite toys because she is long and has lots of little leg things that are relatively easy to grab onto. She's just thin enough for Lillian to wrap her arms around, as well.

Squirmy

She worked very hard to get her arms out of the swaddle me. Its amazing to watch her wiggle around and finally get them out. And she is so proud of herself when she does this.
She can now pronounce an 'm' sound. It means things that sound like 'mom' are starting to come out of her mouth. Its awesome. I'm all proud and stuff.

Nom Nom Nom

Yummy baby! She is surprisingly unaffected by being eaten.

Early, early this morning, after her nightly feed, she did this really cute thing in her sleep. Apparently, if you kiss her cheek while she's alseep, she'll smile. The length of the smile is dependant on the legnth of the kiss.

2 Month Checkup

Lillian had her two month checkup this Friday (even though, technically she was 2 months and one week old). She is 23 inches long and 11lbs 4 oz. She is 50% for height, 55% for weight and 40% for head circumference. Amazingly average. Here she is all dressed up for her drs appointment. Cute!

She did wonderfully with her first shot. Her first response was to wail as if something was not correct with the world. But fifteen minutes later, she fell asleep. Granted it was fifteen minutes of 'how could you do this to me' screaming; but, compared to some stories, I consider this okay. Her reaction could have been much worse.

As you can tell, we have a new talent- grabbing on to things and moving them. The dress is awesome since it is small enough to grab and attached to us, so we can't lose it. And we are still young enough that no one can accuse us of flashing them. Woot!

The only evidence of the shot is the cute little hello kitty bandaid.

Kitty!

Its fun to watch how each cat reacts to her. When I first brought her home, Damien noticed right away. He wanted to smell her and smell her carrier and her things and purr. Plumpers only cared about smelling her blanket and then wandered off to get a drink of water. Mephistophiles was oblivious. He greeted me on the couch a half hour after she came home and purred and demanded attention, but didn't notice the little being on my lap. It took him a good fifteen minutes before he looked over and decided that she needed a sniff. Even that didn't take long before he decided that Lillian wasn't going to rub him and thus was not worthy of attention yet.

The first time she cried, all of the cats lined up in my room and looked at me with this 'what is that god awful noise?' expression. It made me feel even more guilty.

When she first met Tigger and Sassy, they were relatively oblivious to her as well. Tigger basically ignored her, and tried climbing on top of her to get scritches. Sassy didn't really care one way or the other. You can still see these responses in the cats. Damien sits next to her, doesn't care when she kicks him and generally tries to avoid stepping on her. Mephy will cuddle her, but leaves as soon as she starts wiggling. Tigger would lay on top of her, but knows that he would get kicked off of the couch entirely if he even looked like he would step on her, so he generally gets as close as he can.

Magical Seahorses and Strait-jackets

Lillian has a new best friend- a cute little seahorse that sings her to sleep. It has pretty music with cute bubbly noises in it and it glows when you press its tummy like a glo-worm, but better.

Lillian has this tendency to get overly tired and consequently very fussy. She hasn't quite figured out yet that she could just go to sleep and everything would feel better. However, the seahorse music will calm her down enough to let her fall asleep. She will actually fall asleep on her own!

The strait-jacket, innocently sold under the name 'swaddle me,' allows her to get multiple, continuous hours of sleep. She'll fall asleep around 9.30 pm, wake up sometime between 5.30 and 7.30 am to eat and then go back to sleep until 11 am or we decide to wake her up. I credit this to the swaddle me, since before implementation of this device, her quality of sleep was dependant on how well the blanket stayed wrapped around her.

Rolling over

Lillian can roll over sometimes now. Its not often and it requires that we position her arms in just the right spots, but its adorable and she seems so proud of herself.

You can see her straining sometimes, knowing that if she can just push hard enough, she'll go tumbling over. It must be frustrating not to be able to move how one wants to. Even more so when you know how to do it, you just can't.

Eyelashes

This is mostly an excuse for me to post more incredibly cute pictures. I have enough to fill a CD.

Here she is at about one month. Note how she has very light eyelashes. They might even be considered non-existent in this photo.

Two weeks later, they're brown. She might never need mascara- something my sister was planning on teaching her about when she was born. Yay! for no needed makeup. She's also wearing the onesie that Laura gave her. Isn't it cute?

Her eyelashes are even darker now, at seven weeks.

Austin

We went to visit Lisa in Austin this weekend and all in all it was a good trip. We made good time going down there. I managed to get pulled over, which sucked, but I only got a warning. So, it was okay.

We wandered around campus and visited Lisa's dorm room. Lisa has made it her goal to meet as many people as possible. I think this is awesome so long as I continue to get phone calls every now and again. I miss her and keep expecting to see her.

I over packed for Lillian, like I tend to do and I under packed for myself, which I also tend to do. She managed to mess half of her outfits (think over a weeks worth) and all of mine (think one change of clothing).

We decided to visit again when its cooler. Lillian did quite well on the trip- minus the last hour and a half. Hopefully, Lisa won't have forgotten about me by then.
